Post 2: Google Ads=Annoying
(Seriously all ads are annoying...)
This post comes
because Someone
responded to my enteries saying that she doubted that I was on Xanga
for along time. So I decided to write this entry.
I really
hate those ads on Xanga. In general, I don't like ads.
I
think it was in middle school where I decided that I don't want to be
sucked into buying whatever the hell ads try to tell me to do.
I
was watching a TV commercial. I saw a shampoo that I wanted to buy.
This commercial showed a girl using the shampoo and then walked on
the streets and some boys began to follow her. Of course this type of
advertisement would appeal a lot to teenage girls. To me this
appealed to me because I thought this would appeal to some boys. But
then I thought would this shampoo really get guys my attention. I
always thought that a person should like who you are not how the hair
would smell.
I was thinking of buying this shampoo. Then I
thought about why that shampoo advertised that way. Of course, this
commercial was aim for teenagers. Also I had to show the commercial
to my mother, but I thought it will give a bad message to her, so I
thought so much about whether I need to have this shampoo because I
have a good shampoo that helps my hair. All I thought is that I need
a good shampoo, which I have, to help my hair to be healthy, shiny
and not looking greasy.
So I decided not to be pressure in by this commercial, as how all
other teenagers. Most commercials do target a certain age range and
to get those people to get their product, so for me I am not getting
into that trap. Besides I do not have to get this shampoo because I
do not need a new shampoo. So I am glad that I wrote this because I
feel so much better for making the right choice.
Why I don't like the google ads. First off, before the google
ads on the xanga, a person could actually read what a person's blog
without the ad being on the side and being interruptive. For some
people's layout the google ad is right in the way, even dangling in
the way because of how the layout is created.
In order to get
rid of the annoying google ad, someone needs to buy (or get 100,000
credits) to get the Lifetime in order to get rid of the google ads.
I think that in order for Xanga to get more people to buy the
lifetime (which probably a lot of people didn't buy in 2001) Xanga
decided to add the google ads in order to get people who are so used
to not having ads on their site, to buy the lifetime.
So once
again, Xanga tries to profit (although I think blogging should be for
free, our ideas are free to begin with) by getting people to buy
lifetime, and to essentially get money off the ads as well.
Once
again, the moral of the story is that Xanga's only interest is
to get people to pay by credit card in order to have the lifetime in
order to get rid of the ads on the site.
I know have a
Premium badge, me thinks there's a conspiracy here and that Xanga
wants my money... all well...
